Apple takes tentative steps against bonded labour in Asia
Apple takes initiative
Apple announced its most ambitious effort yet to stamp out labor abuses among its Asian suppliers. Recruitment agencies in Asia are no longer allowed to charge fees to factory workers who make Apple products, and Apple vowed to scrutinize its supply chain to ensure that its new rule is enforced. Workers in developing countries are usually forced to pay huge fees to recruiters to get jobs. Once workers take a job, the debt they incurred to pay recruiters essentially leaves them enslaved.

Taiwan Prison Siege
At a prison in Kaohsiung, Taiwan six inmates took a warden and a head guard hostage. The stand-off went on for 14 hours. The inmates also seized weapons through the hostages by forcing the guards to take them to the prison's weapon cache. The inmates faked like they were six and that is how they lured the guards into their scheme. In the end all of the inmates ended up committing suicide and the warden and guard were unharmed. TransAsia crash: 31 dead, airline providing compensation
This article that I found on Channel News Asia touches on the recent airplane crash that occurred when the TransAsia Airway took off and then hit a overpass in Taiwan and went in to the Keelung river. The airway is also offering compensation to the families of the deceased as well as the Taxi that was hit on the overpass which has left two people hospitalized. The airway was also accused of not checking the engine on the plane by the media so there is an ongoing investigation on that matter. TransAsia Airway Crash
